In the 2018-2019 robotics season, the theme was Into Orbit. ECC had two teams.
One of the teams, The Musical Planets won 1st place in project for the qualifying tournament, and was nominated for the Global Innovation Award at the Legoland competition.
This team’s project was to have astronauts play music in space on woodwind instruments to improve lung function.
The Musical Planets conducted tests at ECC by hosting a harmonica class, and testing if playing the harmonica for two weeks improved lung function. This test was successful.
If the astronauts came back to Earth from space with strong lungs, this could help speed up the recovery process.
