This guide will explain how to do build and code the SPIKE Prime robot.
The kit will be delivered on Sunday. It must be fully deconstructed by FRIDAY NIGHT! We will come pick up the kit on Saturday.
Here is a basic to-do list:
- Assemble the robot. (Monday)
- Download all software. (Tuesday)
- Learn about and use motors and sensors.(Wednesday)
- Experiment with programming. (Thursday)
- Deconstruct kit and take review quiz. (Friday)

1. Assemble the Robot (Day 1)
First you will need to assemble the robot. Please follow the instructions below.

2. Install and Connect Robot (Day 2)
This step can be skipped if you are using a laptop that is provided by your trainer.
Make sure that you select the correct video for your computer/tablet.
NOTE: There is a new version of the SPIKE Prime software released with the same functionality. The install steps are the same, but make sure the logo looks like the one below, and is not called “Legacy”:

3. Programming! (Day 3)

4. Experiment! (Day 4)
Now that you have a basic understanding of coding the robot, try to make your own programs! You can try to do the following if you would like:
- Move in a circle
- Stop at a black line
- Control your motors individually
- Move in a square
- Move, then stop the robot 1 meter away from the wall using sensors.
5. Disassemble and Organize (Day 5)
Please deconstruct your robot, and place the pieces back into their respective trays. There is a piece of cardstock in the box to guide you.
